Introducing Another Life Podcast
Join the Conversation!
Hello, friends! Welcome to the PloughStack, the Plough magazine’s venture into Substack. We hope to use this space to have good conversations about how another life is possible. To get that conversation going, we hope you’ll give a listen to the introductory episode of our new podcast, hosted by our editor (me) Joy Clarkson:
And then introduce yourself and tell us the answer to this question:
What is one thing in your everyday life that reminds you another life is possible?
We look forward to more conversations soon!
Warmly,
Joy
p.s. this Substack is run by the whole team at Plough. Whoever is writing will sign off.

Congratulations, Joy, on this new podcast endeavour! I loved this first episode, and look forward to more to come.
As a child of boomers, I too was raised on a steady diet of Simon & Garfunkel (the first album I ever bought for myself, as a teen, was their Concert in Central Park, and it’s still on playlist rotation in our home). Love your choice of Scarborough Fair as your theme music, esp as played by Jason on his amazing harp.
For the record (pun intended), and since I know you won’t mind the pedantry: The S&G 1966 album with that song is titled “Parsley, Sage, Rosemary and Thyme” and the song is “Scarborough Fair / Canticle”. For Canticle, Simon repackaged lyrics from his earlier song “The Side of a Hill.” That he termed it a canticle adds a layer to the biting irony. (And of course, the album closes with perhaps one of S&G’s most disturbing songs, “7 O’Clock News / Silent Night”. Sledgehammer stuff. And hauntingly beautiful.
Thank you for reminding us all that Another Life Is Possible.
